Why denim?

Why denim? First of all, because it’s beautiful. Second, because its history is fascinatingly rich. Having been created for the needs of the working class, denim is a sturdy, therefore strong and durable weave fabric. Finally, because it would be with unparalleled sadness not to give a second life to clothes that have long been the pride of the people who wore them.

One of the primary consequences of fast fashion is the extraordinary amount of clothing that ends up in the dump after a short period of use. In Canada, several initiatives are taken to reduce textile waste. Based on the 3R (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) approach, some organizations promote the recovery of textile materials by providing a garbage collection and sorting service.

We then intervene by re-using and transforming his pieces in order to give them a second life. We favor the use of denim for its look, strength and durability. Since the process of dyeing denim is extremely polluting, it seems to us of interest to save the fruit of such devastating labor.

The ENCORE product range consists exclusively of denim products: shirts, jackets, bags and accessories. We are currently experimenting with other recoverable materials from the commercial and industrial sectors such as truck tarpaulin, boat canvas, tent cloths and parachutes.
